Travel with confidence

Is Morocco safe to travel?

Short answer: yes. Morocco is one of the most stable, welcoming countries in Africa — it welcomed 19.8 million visitors in 2025, with a dedicated multilingual Tourist Police. Here's the honest detail, and exactly how we look after you.

The facts

What the official advisories actually say

We'd rather give you the real picture than a sales pitch.

  • US State Department: Level 2 — "Exercise increased caution." That's the same level as France, the UK, Germany, and Spain (source: travel.state.gov). It reflects general regional caution, not a specific threat to tourists.
  • Violent crime against tourists is rare. The most common issues are petty scams and pushy vendors — annoying, not dangerous.
  • Morocco runs a dedicated, multilingual Tourist Police and has a sophisticated security presence in tourist areas.
  • Tap water varies by region — we advise bottled water; food at our vetted stops is safe.

Your safety questions, answered

Is Morocco safe for solo female travelers?

Yes — and it's one of our most common traveler types. You may get some attention in busy medinas, but with a licensed guide and our 24/7 support it's comfortable and secure. We choose trusted accommodations and can tailor pacing and privacy to your comfort.

Is it safe to travel to Morocco right now?

Yes. The US State Department lists Morocco at Level 2 ("exercise increased caution") — the same level as much of Western Europe. We monitor conditions continuously and adjust routes if needed.

What about scams — will I get ripped off?

The common scams (fake "guides" giving directions, high-pressure carpet/tannery stops, unmetered taxis) only target independent tourists. On a private tour with us you're insulated from all of them — our guides handle navigation and we never run commission shopping stops.

What about the Algeria border region?

Our tours stay well within the established tourist regions — Marrakech, Fes, the imperial cities, the Atlas, and the Erg Chebbi/Merzouga dunes. We don't travel to the restricted eastern border zones.

Do I need vaccinations or special insurance?

No special vaccinations are required for most travelers (check with your doctor). We strongly recommend standard travel insurance, as with any trip.
